Burson-Marsteller gets tourism account

Quoting Jorge Gamboa, director of the Mexico Tourism Board’s office in the United States, the trade publication “Travel Weekly” has reported that Burson-Marsteller will handle Mexico’s tourism public relations, replacing Newlink. No official announcement has been made in Mexico.

Rumor mills have it that the Burson-Marsteller appointment was made by the office of the President of the Republic, bypassing the Tourism Board, or Tourism Promotion Council, as it is called in Mexico. This is said to be the reason that Oscar Fitch resigned as head of the Board/Council.
