Para gliders eye Taxco

Paragliding pilots from more than a dozen countries are expected to gather in Taxco this weekend to explore the area to determine its suitability for international competitions. The Guerrero State Tourism Office hopes not only to put Taxco on paragliding maps, but make the town more attractive to young people. At one time Guerrero, thanks to Taxco and Acapulco, led Mexico in international tourism, but that was half-a-century ago when there was nowhere else to go. Today, both attract primarily domestic travelers, but on many weekends, available hotel rooms in either may be difficult to find.
