Accompanied by Mexico City Mayor (technically the Chief of Government of the Federal District) Miguel Angel Mancera, municipal tourism chief Miguel Torruco outlined a program to entice more visitors to the Mexican capital. In 2012, some 12.5 million out-of-towners stopped by, including some two million foreigners. More are wanted. Torruco, who studied at the Cornel School of Hotel Administration, has devoted his career to tourism, headed the National Tourism Confederation and was rector of a tourism school in Mexico City.
