New England Foliage: Day 8

A beautiful setting in Pomfret, CT.

Day 7, Sunday Oct. 7, was overcast and rainy. So I took the day off and watched football.
Today, a childhood friend drove me to a number of hidden gems in the bucolic northeast corner of the state. We toured the backroads of Pomfret and Woodstock, Ct., walking through brush deep into the woods.
We lost sun at midday. Peak season is still five to 10 days away. Again, the backroads lead to some excellent foliage with the crowds. Set your GPS, system and explore. You can’t go wrong no matter which backroad you take.
