Although several countries have cautioned their citizens about traveling to Mexico, where criminal gangs battle violently with each other and with police, according to several experts, the warnings have not hampered tourism.
Visits to Mexico have declined somewhat, but this is said to be primarily the result of economic conditions. Fear of swine flu last year also hit hard. Criminal violence, on the other hand, until now has been confined to specific regions and to specific areas in these regions. Thus far, no tourists have been involved.
