The first of an expected 20,000 American and Canadian college students have hit the beach for the spring break holiday. More will arrive throughout the month. Other beach resorts will see more young people pouring in during the days off between university semesters. Although regarded by some as a plague, the youngsters play an important role in keeping tourism numbers up. The Texas Department of Public Safety, stating that 120 Americans were murdered in Mexico last year, urged young people to stay home.
