Changes at Aeromexico

Aeroméxico Travel, which has been operated as a separate entity devoted strictly to charters, will now become a scheduled passenger carrier. AM Travel will fly from Mexico City to Guadalajara, Monterrey and Tijuana, offering the same low fares charged by Volaris and Viva Aerobus. The carrier, established two years ago, operates three MD 80 aircraft. Labor unions have expressed concern that the trunk airline will shift equipment to AM Travel, which has its own contract with pilots, flight attendants and others. Aeroméxico already has one subsidiary, Aeroméxico Connect. Rival Mexicana Airlines also controls two subsidiaries, Click and Link.
